Personal Work
This photographic series explores the history of prayer and devotion embodied in Shinto, Japan's indigenous spiritual tradition. Through images of torii gates—the sacred thresholds that mark the boundary between the everyday world and the divine—it expresses the liminal space between the human and the sacred.
Each work is printed on premium plaster sheets crafted from high-quality limestone quarried in Akiyoshidai. The frames are made from Japanese timber traditionally used in architecture, including over 1,000-year-old Yakusugi cedar. Preserving the wood's natural imperfections—its scars, warping, and twists—each frame is carefully balanced in harmony with the artwork, honoring the beauty shaped by time and nature.

This series preserves the fleeting essence of the coastline where I live—the colors that moved me, the passage of time, the sound of the waves, and the scent of the sea, all held within a single moment.
